Extension of pool lifeguarding certificates

With the current COVID-19 situation affecting the country, and gyms, swimming pools and leisure facilities being asked to close, we wanted to provide some reassurance to those working in the pool lifeguarding sector.
We are pleased to announce that certificates for our Highfield Level 2 Award in Pool Lifeguarding (RQF) qualification that were due to expire on or before 30 June 2020 will now be extended by three months to support you through this difficult period.
You do not need to do anything for this to happen, so there’s no need to get in touch. The extension will be implemented automatically.
Should the current period of uncertainty continue, we will review the extension period and update you accordingly.
In the meantime, please contact us on 01302 363277 or email info@highfield.co.uk if you have any questions.

Highfield receives Dubai accreditation for lifeguarding

One of the Middle East’s leading awarding organisations has been accredited in Dubai to certify persons in lifeguarding, under new regulations designed to improve beach and pool safety.

Highfield MEA, part of the UK-based Highfield Qualifications, has been accredited under ISO standards and Dubai Municipality regulations by DAC, meaning that it can now offer approved training centres high-standard examinations and certification for persons working in the lifeguarding sector.

The organisation, which is registered with the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), has been offering the certification of persons in Dubai and internationally for seven years and operates in around 40 countries.

It is hoped the new standards will help the Dubai Municipality to certify all lifeguards operating in the emirate before July 2017 as part of efforts to raise standards.

Richard Sprenger, Highfield Chairman, said, ‘We’d like to congratulate everyone involved in this project for all their hard work. We believe that Highfield’s experience in providing internationally recognised qualifications will help to contribute to improving standards.

Because Highfield is part of a wider group of companies, we can provide approved training centres with a complete support package that includes resources and materials that will help candidates to meet the new requirements for July 2017.

For those centres whose lifeguards may also work outside Dubai, we can also issue international qualifications, meaning that businesses can continue to use existing training companies and qualifications with the confidence that independent assessment will provide compliance within Dubai’.

Rebecca Sprenger, International Director, added, ‘Customers can be confident that centres registered with Highfield will have the highest standards of quality assurance and client care, and that because we do not provide the training ourselves, the assessment process is entirely independent’.

Press Release: Free conference for lifeguarding qualifications

Lifeguarding QualificationsOne of the UK’s top qualification bodies will be hosting a free pool lifeguarding qualifications seminar for sports and leisure professionals later this year as part of its national conference.

The Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance (HABC) National Conference takes place at Old Trafford Stadium, Manchester on 13 November 2014, and will feature a day-long seminar focusing on the HABC Level 2 Award in Pool Lifeguarding (QCF).

Since its launch in 2011, a number of organisations have switched to the qualification, including Lifespan UK, which provides training for Virgin Active, as well as Holgates, Sport Central Northumbria University and Aquafyn Training Ltd.

The qualification has also proven popular with leisure trusts across the country, including Carlisle Leisure Trust Ltd, Doncaster Culture and Leisure Trust, Jesmond Community Leisure, North Country Leisure and Pendle Leisure Trust.

Christian Sprenger, HABC Managing Director, said, ‘The free seminar will be an ideal opportunity for sports and leisure professionals to find out more about the qualification and us as an organisation, especially in terms of the support and materials we can offer, and the expert team we have. We’ll also be able to help any organisations not already offering the qualification but wanting to do so’.

Attending the seminar will allow pool lifeguard trainers and assessors to deliver the HABC Level 2 Award in Pool Lifeguarding (QCF), providing they meet all the nominated tutor and assessor requirements. Delegates will also receive complimentary copies of The Pool Lifeguard Handbook, A Question of Pool Lifeguarding and the First Aid Handbook.

The pool lifeguarding qualifications seminar – sponsored by sponsored Carlisle Leisure Ltd, Jesmond Community Leisure, North Country Leisure and Pendle Leisure Trust – is one of seven that make up the entire conference covering the apprenticeships, fire safety and health and safety, first aid, food safety, licensing and security sectors.
