The Port Talbot-based HABC Approved Centre was approached by the Royal Mint – which has been in existence for over 1,100 years and is the only body authorised to mint coins in the UK – after it began a search for a training provider to carry out its in-house training.
Rob Davies, Director at Elbrus, said, ‘The contract came about when the Royal Mint looked at our website and could see the background of our staff and trainers were ex-forces and special forces, and that we had extensive experience working in a variety of hostile environments.Anthony, one of the trainers at Elbrus, in front of their HABC Approved Centre certificate.
They reviewed the training courses and decided on the door supervision qualifications, which include physical intervention training, as they are opening a new visitors’ centre which may be licensed and where events may be held. Although there are MOD police on site, they felt that the door supervision course was better suited than the security guards qualification. On top of that, we’ll also be delivering CCTV training too’.
Rob added, ‘Although their security staff are employed in-house, they wanted a recognised level of training for their staff and the HABC qualifications met the mark. It’s great to have the opportunity to work with such a prestigious client and testament to all the hard work the team have put in’.
