Behind the scenes…refreshing the SCPLH qualifications

Back in 2013, two new licensing qualifications were developed. Working together with People1st, the Scottish Government and other awarding organisations, Highfield developed a replacement of the old Award for Scottish Personal Licence Holders (On and Off Sales) and to satisfy mandatory training requirements specified within Scottish licensing law, the SCPLH Refresher came into being.

However, since 2013 a number of new Bills and amendments to legislation have come into effect and as the qualifications have been live for 5 years this means that they themselves are due a refresh.

So once again, Highfield have joined a steering group and are working with People1st, the SQA, the Scottish Government and other stakeholders in the licensing industry to develop new, updated versions of the qualifications which are due to launch in 2019.

During 2019, Highfield will be seeking the views of training providers, employers and others in the licensing industry to provide us with feedback to help shape the new qualifications. It’s important to us that the qualifications provide value to both licence holders and the trade as a whole.

So keep an eye out for more information throughout 2019!
